"Having digestive issues at a young age really makes it hard to grow up on normal food. It started when I was 12 or at least that was when it became prominent. I would be eating dinner and have to run to the bathroom. My family would joke about it but no one thought I had a problem. I heard things like that didn’t sit well in her tummy, she’s just making room to eat more and things like why didn’t she go to the bathroom before dinner apparently she had to go before. I had no control over when I had to go and had very little time to get to a bathroom. I started not wanting to eat. I would make up excuses like I grabbed a candy bar on my way home from school. Even though I didn’t it was a way for me to get out of eating dinner. Then I could snack later without the whole family seeing me rush to the bathroom. Because this went on for most of my life I thought it was normal. I mean no adult thought anything more than it was funny. So I suffered in silence. As an adult I didn’t dare eat at work. I would go the whole day with nothing to eat until after work. When I was 44 I had a vaginal mesh but in and they found a large polyp blocking my colon. It was colon cancer. With all my digestive symptoms not one doctor said let’s take a look at your colon. The polyp showed up on an MRI that my urogynocogist ordered to see if the mesh was placed properly. They caught it early enough and I am technically cured of that cancer. I ended up growing up as a picky eater. To this day I still do not eat in public or during a work day. Any suggestions on how to overcome this picky eater disorder I now have? Thanks for letting me text. Saying it or in this case typing it really helps. "
