Can I do anything to help the absorption process of vitamins and minerals?

I have had Crohns Disease for over 40 years. Currently I cannot absorb Magnesium, Iron and Vitamin D. Can I do anything to help in the absorption process? I do absorb some vitamins and calories as I can maintain my weight, But I don’t gain weight. Any Ideas? Thank you.

    For fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K), you need fat to absorb them, so be sure to consume fat when you take those.

    Well at least to help absorb Vitamin D, my nutritionist is recommending a sun lamp. This is not the same type of lamp you would get a tan from, it is one specifically for absorption of Vitamin D. Living in Pennsylvania, we don’t really get enough natural sun, so, I will try the lamp. You only need to use the light for a short period each day.

    I currently work with a holistic nutritionist , and he has done wonders for me, But just can’t get these three vitamins and minerals to stick. I am on hi doses of the D3 and Magnesium, and a month after I finish my last Iron transfusion , Iron level will be below normal

    I am in the same situation, but I don’t absorb anything. Just had my 3rd iron infusion plus b12 shot (monthly). Hugs wish I could help.

    I’ve been struggling with this as well. I read that if you take your vitamins with food it helps. I also did some research on which vitamins to take with what specific types of foods, and what time of the day. It’s very complicated but I bet if you have a health food store nearby there could be someone who can help. My health food store has a doctor that works there – I think I am going to visit and ask this exact question. He’s been very helpful with finding supplements that don’t affect my CD!
