Crohn's disease for 30 years and now a Lupus diagnosis?

In addition to 30 years with Crohn's disease, I just found out that I have lupus that is not likely to be drug induced (I have been off Humira for 6 months). I am on Entyvio for Crohn's and will add Plaquenil for the lupus. Does anyone else have this double autoimmune issue? I am thinking I may have had lupus for many years, although previous tests have come back negative. It is all pretty complicated.

  1. I am so sorry about your diagnosis. I do not have experience with double autoimmune issues, but I am sure others from the community will chime in and share. In the mean time, know that you have this community for support, always. I am sending warm hugs your way. Rooting for you.

    1. Hi , I'm so sorry about your new diagnosis. I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis about 10 months after being diagnosed with Crohn's disease, although I had previously been air-marked as having fibromyalgia previously. From my experience, it's pretty common for patients with 1 autoimmune disease to also have a second and/or third condition. It has to do with our bodies defenses/responses. I'm glad you're sharing your story here, and I hope you continue to feel supported in this community <3

      Warmly,

      1. I am sorry for your double diagnosis, and I also have two autoimmune diseases. In addition to Crohn's, I also have a skin disorder, lichen sclerosis. I have been told that it is common to have a second autoimmune disease once diagnosed with the first. Stay strong, and know that we are here for resources and support!

        1. I’m so sorry. I too have lupus and crohns and quite a few others it’s hard sometimes you can’t figure out which doc to call. Oh and all of the meds. But now you get to be called complicated by all the docs! Welcome to the club! ( I mean docs are jerks to us at least in my opinion). But good luck hun all will and does work out. And lots of the meds overlap. ❤️Jules
