My story, my hell

I was diagnosed with Crohn’s back in 2001. I was rushed to hospital with severe abdominal pain. Test after test were done and colonoscopy. The conclusion… Crohn’s Disease. I worked in the medical field for 23 years prior to this and I was shocked, but relieved. Before my dx I always went to the doctor complaining always of severe abdominal pain and sore joints. I was in the hospital for 10 days. Over the years I feel it’s getting worse as I get older. I’m 49 years old and find it harder to recover from a bad flare. I’m going through some issues now of just really bad pain.

SusanHU, I am so sorry about what you are going through. You are truly not alone, as my symptoms are very similar to yours. I am also the same age. Sometimes Crohn’s can feel like your in hell. But some days for me aren’t so bad. I live for these days. A day with minimal pain is like gold to me. When I start to flare I feel like I’m falling down a dark hole. I also suffer from depression and when it’s the worst I lose my sense of taste and smell. I am struggling with that now. Every thing tastes “off”. What gets me through these times is knowing I will have good days again. I wish you the very best. You are definitely not alone in how you feel. Take care and God bless.
