Someone help
Hi I'm Elijah, I'm not really sure if I have IBD or IBS so that's why I'm sharing my story.
My severe symptoms
Around a month ago, I woke up one morning with severe lower abdominal pain, a few minutes later I was running to the bathroom with horrible watery diarrhea. I also had bloating, gas and nausea. It's usually the worst in the evening and when I wake up in the morning. After around day 3 or 4 of this, I went to the emergency room.
I did some stool tests and blood tests but they came back normal. They sent me home and told me to come back the next morning for an abdominal ultrasound. The next morning, I was heading to my appointment when my stomach started hurting really bad. Like excruciatingly bad. I got to the waiting room when I suddenly felt like I needed to run to the bathroom. I went in and had pure watery stool. I'm not sure if I saw a streak of blood but I think I did. I went to the bathroom around 4-5 times before my appointment with large volumes of watery stool. I had my ultrasound done but by then, my nausea was the worst. I was dry heaving so bad but nothing came out.
Normal test results and no answers
I headed back to the emergency room after my ultrasound. The results were normal. They sent me home telling me it was probably just a viral infection. I was also prescribed ondansetron ( zofran ) for the nausea. They also gave me a stool test to check for C diff bacteria. It was also negative. For a few days after that, I was still waking up with horrible stomach pain, diarrhea, tenesmus, nausea and bloating. It's been a month since that horrible episode, I've cut out FODMAPS from my life currently, and it's helped a bit but I still suffer from constant nausea, bloating, gas and stomach pain.
New symptom.. constipation!
The weird thing is that I've now become severely constipated. I feel like I need to go but nothing comes out despite straining. I've contacted my GP and referred me to a gastroenterologist. I'm still currently waiting for an appointment. I've always had stomach issues ( bloating, gas, GERD ) since I was little and I also had a C diff infection when I was 7 years old, but it only lasted for around 2 weeks. Not like this. I also have eczema, mild asthma, migraines, chronic sinusitis, moderate acne and frequent canker sores. I'm not sure if it was a coincidence, but I also got eye pain, redness and swelling during my episode. It might've been just a stye, I'm not sure though.
I've done some research on Post infectious IBS, Crohn's, UC and SIBO and I found that my symptoms match with every single one of these conditions. My mom's dad died of lupus, and my dad's sister has rheumatoid arthritis. My mom and dad have IBS. I've also used Genomapp which analyzes your raw DNA, from a mouth swab and told me I have a high risk of developing IBD.
I really don't know what's happening. Please respond, thank you !
