Foot Pain/Aches

This is a new one for me and I'm not sure if it is related to joint pain or fatigue due to my Crohn's or what... BUT I thought it worth mentioning in here to see if anyone else experiences the same thing.

I have noticed about half way through the day, my feet will be aching like crazy!!! It feels like I have run a marathon or been walking around a theme park all day. Just standing and washing the dishes for about 20-30 minutes kills my feet. I have to keep moving or rest them, but that doesn't fix the issue right away. It will take a good day or two to get my feet back to normal. It will take longer if I actually have been active on my feet all day. Granted I do have pretty flat feet, so that could likely be a factor. I am wondering if I should mention this when I go to the Rheumatologist in July though!?

Anyone else experience these issues? I used to work a very physical job, but can no longer do so because of this disease. I feel like a 90 year old woman! I want to be able to go out and do errands or just accomplish chores around the house without having to stop and take breaks every 15 minutes. I'm only 31, so this is just weird for me!

  1. Hi Gillendor,

Thank you for sharing! I'm not a medical professional so I can't say how or if it's related to IBD but I definitely think it's worth relating to your doctors. Everyone is unique of course so it could be part of how your disease manifests or just something for them to consider. I hope that they're able to give you some answers though or at least some tips on how to deal with it. Please let us know if you find anything out - we'd be interested to hear how it's going!

    1. Thanks Susan! I will definitely bring it up to my doctors then. Thanks for sharing your opinion! I've never heard anyone else mention foot issues before, so I wasn't sure if it was something else going on with me, ha ha ha!
I will let you know how it goes!

  2. Okay UPDATE--Saw the Rheumatologist and I did mention the foot pain I have been experiencing. She said that it is likely since I have Crohn's disease that I'm a candidate for spondyloarthropathy. Which can actually lead to plantar fascitis which would be the foot pain! Sorry if I butchered the spelling on those! So I'm glad I mentioned it! Doc issued a lot of blood tests and I go back in a few weeks to see what we do and if I officially do have some arthritis going on. So for anyone else wondering about foot pain, yes it could be related! I'll update again if I find anything out further.
Here is resource from the CCFA that also mentions that group of arthritis conditons spondyloarthropathy.

    1. Thanks for updating us ! I hadn't hear of spondyloarthropathy - goes to show we all still have something to learn. We're glad to hear that your doctor worked with you on this and that you received an answer! - Susan (InflammatoryBowelDisease.net Team Member)
