“Mild case” feeling alone in this whole thing

I was just diagnosed with Crohn’s this year at the age of 31. I’ve had chronic constipation for as long as I can remember and other family members do to- which makes me believe it’s genetic. But I’m the only one with Crohn’s. I understand that the most common issue to have with Crohn’s is extreme diarrhea. But I am wondering if anyone out there does not get diarrhea. Never have.

I go to the bathroom 1x every 1-2 weeks. And it causes intense pain.

I’m new to this whole thing and am just looking for someone else who understands what I’m going through.

    1. So sorry to hear you were just diagnosed with Crohn's. I've battled it 12+ years. My advice to you is to never feel guilty or belittled by others who try and make their experience out to be worse than yours. It's not a competition to see who is more sick. You have a chronic, auto-immune illness, just like the rest of us. You never know when it will flare and become worse and when you'll have periods of remission. Celebrate the times when you feel well and know that when you're in intense pain, that those moments are fleeting. Time and experience will help you come to grips with this new diagnosis--remember, this is not your identity--it is a part of you, but not all of you.-Natalie, InflammatoryBowelDisease.net

      1. Mild case? I don't think so. I cant imagine being constipated for more than 2 days. I imagine for you the swelling is backing you up instead of causing chronic diarrhea. It seems to me that you are on the opposite end of two extremes, not at same mild middle ground.

        My tummy aches for you!
