MY DANG TEETH

Just now I had another filling come out. This is around the 5th or 6th one. Since I have had Crohn's I have had 6 root canals, and had to have 2 teeth pulled.. Is this due to my Crohn's? I heard that it can affect your teeth.

  1. Hi , thank's for posting! I'm sorry to hear all the complications you're experiencing. Unfortunately, dental issues are some of those lesser known or surprising symptoms that we hear about often. Inflammation of the gums, malnutrition, and side effects from certain medications can all play a role in dental issues/mouth sores. I'm sharing a couple articles here that you might find to be helpful, as well as personal experiences from some of our advocates. I hope this helps to answer some of your questions. - Pam (team member)

    1. Hi magsmom65,

Unfortunately, like Pam mentioned, dental issues are a symptom of Crohn's. From my personal experience, I've found that when I am on Prednisone for an extended period of time, the health of my teeth really suffer.

      1. I can totally relate to this. I'm coming up on my 10th year anniversary of my diagnosis and my teeth have really been bothering me. A few of my fillings have fallen out too. Deff have to focus on dental care with IBD. Never realized it would be like this.
