Awaiting tests for IBD

Hey all, totally new here & know nothing much about IBD other than the little I've read.

I'm 29 years old & for a while now, I've been having issues with my body. I've recently started driving so my anxiety has been through the roof, I've been having multiple bowel movements every morning before work sometimes 6+. All very small but very runny, greeny/black colour with small amounts of mucus here & there, nothing I can identify as blood although I know dark poo can mean blood is present.
I did initially put it down to the anxiety, however as I said I've had other issues with my body for a while so started back tracking...

My weight has been up & down ever since I was a teenager, I have had a few times in the past (teens) where I've had unexplainable sore ribs however I was told the doctors can't do anything about that unless it's sore at the point of my app. I have also had back issues since I was 18, at that point physio told me it was a "hinge" - still don't have a definitive answer of why I have back pain but my posture isn't great either although I tend to have general aches & pains all over.
My bowel movements have never been the best - I put this down to my diet as I'm an extremely fussy eater so I probably don't have the nutrients etc I should have, I never feel fully empty even when I do have "normal" poos.
I'm constantly tired & have been for years but I also have depression so I figure I was just mentally exhausted.
A few months back I couldn't stomach food, I was having to force myself to eat as I just felt sick after a few bites this was on & off for a while.
My stomach is always uncomfortable, I feel sick to my stomach every day but I never am sick, I've looked pregnant some days aswell & I've actually thought a few times in the past that I may be - given all other symptoms, but I'm not so I started thinking something else may be wrong.

Tbh I feel like a bit of a hypochondriac because I have all these issues but no reason behind them. I've also started to think if the tests for IBD come back negative, then is it something else or am I just going out of my mind?

Sorry for the long winded post, I just want to give as much information as possible!

Many thanks in advance ❤️

  1. Hi , I am so sorry to hear that you are going through all this. It sounds like you've been having a very rough time. While we are not doctors here, we are always advocates for second, even third opinions. If you are feeling unwell, then your doctors should listen to you and help you figure out what is going on. It's possible that you're experiencing IBD, but it's also possible it is something else. Regardless, you should continue to discuss this with your doctor even if your IBD tests do come back negative. Have they explored any possibilities of IBS as well? Please keep us updated! And know - none of us think you are going out of your mind! We've all been in situations where our bodies are doing strange, unexplainable things. If you feel something is wrong, then you need to be heard. <3

I also wanted to mention that stress and anxiety can be a factor in illness like IBD and IBS. So since you mentioned increased anxiety and then increased symptoms, it is possible they are linked - but not in the sense that "everything is in your head." Rather, the stress could be exacerbating a physical illness you are experiencing too. Have you investigated this at all through meditation, exercise, or perhaps seeing a mental health counselor? Sometimes it's useful to attend to both the mind and body with illnesses such as these!

Again, please do keep us updated on what results you receive and any questions you're having. We're here for you! -Eshani (Team Member)

    1. first of all, welcome! I just wondered whether you've had any test/results yet?

      1. Hi both 🥰

Many thanks for your replies... Sorry I haven't been back on sooner, bloods all came back fine, still to do my poo samples as I haven't been able to obtain "a walnut size" amount!
I am looking into a mental health counsellor as my doctors are more interested in getting you out the door & I do need to increase my excercise which will hopefully help.
My symptoms have eased off a bit but they are still very much there. Hopefully I get some answers soon 🤞🏻 x

        1. , thanks so much for sharing. I'm glad your blood all came back fine, but I hope you find some answer soon! Please keep us updated, if you can. 🤞🏼 Sending well wishes to you - Pam (team member)
