Introduction about me

Hello all, I'm a bachelor student. About a month ago, I had a light pain in my abdomen, but I didn't pay much attention to it. But in the last 10 to 15 days, my stomach pain has been getting worse, and I've had other problems as well. I got a fever and had a lot of bloody diarrhea. I also noticed that I was losing weight. I go to the hospital and get treatment, but my health doesn't get better.

I post on this forum so that if anyone else has the same problem I did, they can help me out. Thank you so much ahead of time.

  1. Hi, Sorry you're going through that. I have been there too many times, but my first suggestion would definitely go see your doctor and get some tests done. Bloods and fecal calprotectin are two I can think of right away. They may suggest a colonoscopy or flexible sigmoidoscopy and I would definitely get those done if they suggest it.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.

    1. thank you for your question. I am so sorry to hear how much you are suffering and hope you can see a GI soon to get this under control.

      1. Hi ! Sorry you are going through this. I also started having symptoms when I was a college student, but I didn't pay attention to it for almost a year because I was more worried about school. So good for you, trying to figure this out! What kinds of treatment is the hospital trying to give you? I agree with the others that more tests would be beneficial to figure out what is going on. Meeting with a GI would probably be very helpful in this situation. -Eshani (IBD Team Member)

        1. have you already been diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease, or not?
If yes, you'll need to get in touch with your IBD team. If not, you may need to start at your GP, explain your symptoms, and that you would like tests to check inflammation, such as CRP and Calprotectin. Calprotectin checks inflammation levels specifically in your intestine, so it's a good indicator of IBD.
