Looking for Diagnosis

Hi,

I am 34 and I am having mild stomach pain in lower left side of Abdomen (some where around Sigmoid Colon) from past 2 months. When I eat just plain simple food (no spices, only rice and plain yogurt)I am fine but as soon as I return to normal diet, pain comes back.

When its not pain then I feel bloating/gas kind of discomfort in lower left side.

My bowel movements are fine.
I feel more discomfort when I sit on chair for long.

My GP asked me to do blood work and ultrasound, which came normal.

She put me on antibiotics course too which didn't help also.

Now she has referred me to Specialist but I haven't got the appointment call yet (God bless Canada's Medical system).

I am not sure what to do next. Its started to affect my daily life now.

  1. Sorry to hear about everything you're dealing with. It sounds all too familiar and I agree with Canada's medical system. While you're waiting, I would start keeping a food/drink journal to keep track of any possible trigger foods. Start with what you eat/drink, when and any results from it and how soon after eating/drinking. Results could be pain, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, etc.
Let us know how you get on.

    1. Stick to foods that don't aggravate tummy. Try a probiotic too a strong one not supermarket.
If your stools have blood or become very loose then off to hospital!

      1. Could you please tell which probiotic will be good ? Thanks

    2. VSL 3 keep it cold. My gastro consultant recommended it. Its quite something so font use every day and never eat before or after hot food. If possible eat with green vegetables. X

      1. also its arrived old and must remain in the fridge. Do let me know hoe you get on please.

    3. Hi . The frustration with the delay is certainly understandable. Given the test results you did receive, did anyone mention irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)? I ask because it can also have symptoms similar to what you describe. Unlike IBD, however, it is not an autoimmune condition (amongst other differences). We have a sister-site for IBS at https://irritablebowelsyndrome.net/ if you want to take a look. None of this, of course, means that your symptoms are not caused by IBD and you definitely should continue to pursue the diagnostics. I just want to mention this other possibility so that you have as much information as possible to discuss with the doctors. Please feel free to keep us posted on how things proceed and to ask additional questions. Best, Richard (Team Member)
