Mezavant for Ulcerative Colitis

Hi I've recently been diagnosed with UC and I am having my first flare up. Has anyone taken mezavant oral tablet? Did you just take them to get over the flare up? I'm in a lot of pain but reluctant to take them? Any guidance please would be appreciated

  1. Hi , I'm so sorry to hear that you're currently in a flare 🙁 I do not have experience with mezavant, but hope other community members will chime in. Have you brought your concerns to your doctor, regarding mazavant? In the meantime, I wanted to share this article with you : https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/treatment which lays out different treatment options that can be discussed with your doctor, as well as some complementary and alternative treatments. I hope you find some relief soon! Please feel free to reach out to us anytime. We're here for you! - Pam (team member)

    1. thank you for replying and the link you provided was very useful. Day 3 of my flare I'm remaining as positive as I can ☺️

  2. Hello JB. I was using them for crohns 4 tablets per day, but stopped taking them after a week or so because of the smell. All I could smell was the mezavant, all I could taste was the smell of mezavant.

My gastro said that they were the mildest form of medication for treating crohns, with very few detrimental side effects that the other more aggressive treatments for UC and crohns. They are suppose to assist with reducing inflammation, so if you are going through a flare, they should be suitable.

Good luck. I hope you feel better soon.
