Not getting the right help

HI,
My husband has ulcerative colitis and associated joint issues, he is on methatrexate which has been doing its job for last 3 years but he has been having a relapse lasting almost 6 months. He is under 2 different consultants, neither of which want to take responsibility. Hes 46years old and feels like a 90year old. he was told last week that methatrexate doesn't treat UC, however 3 years ago he was told it did. We are at the end of our tether and hes very low. Any advice gratefully received.

  1. I'm so sorry that your husband isn't getting the support that he needs and deserves. Methotrexate is a treatment that can be used to treat UC. However, unfortunately, sometimes the body stops responding to certain treatments. Has your husbands doctor talked to you both about starting a new type of treatment? Luckily, there are plenty of biologics out there that can have a positive effect on his disease. I'm including some article links, one of which helps to explain the difference between the medications, their uses, and potential side effects. I hope this helps and I hope your husband finds some relief soon! Keep us posted! - Pam (team member)
