20 Small Things I Can Accomplish in 2020

With the start of 2020 and a new decade, Kelly is sharing 20 small things that she can accomplish this year.

A list of 20 small goals and accomplishments

Wash my face every night

Never go to bed with today's worry on your face. they’ll carry into tomorrow and your pillowcase will thank you.

Count blessings

Count your blessings in the morning while I brush my teeth so that today starts with meaning.

Eat breakfast every day

This is not something I grew up doing. I stopped eating breakfast in high school when my symptoms developed and this is something I'm actively working on today!

Make dinner at home more

How hard is it to grab a couple of extra items on your way home in order to make some boring spaghetti into something that your significant others thought might be delivered!

Try something new

Make something new that you found on a cooking app or website that you don't think will turn out (results may startle you & you may get a lot of laughs out of this!)

Try family recipes

Put a twist on family favorite recipes every month.

Water plants

Water your plants every other day (keep a glass next to them, for god’s sake! We can do this!!)

Drink water

Drink more water if you work at a desk or in a home office especially, move around more. Stand up and work for a while if you can.

Better posture

Work up a plan for how to sit better at your desk. That plan may involve a new arrangement for a standing desk, an ergonomic ball chair, etc. These small differences can make a huge impact on chronic pain and daily quality of life. If you’re not sitting right or releasing the pressure from your bottom (especially with how much we sit on the toilet), you could be doing major damage that can lead to even more chronic pain.

Practice better sleep habits

Go to bed at the same time every night & wake up at the same time every morning. Sleep hygiene is so important and can drastically improve your energy throughout the day.

Walk more

Go for a walk around the block at least 2 times a day. Once when you wake up, once before you go to bed. (You have to walk the dog anyway, so make it count.)

Help with litter in your community

Pick up the trash in your yard - or when you are walking around the block. Be the good person others want to see while they’re getting their mail and coming home. A less polluted world = a better world.

Read more of what makes you happy

Read about something that interests you - kayaking, gardening, baking, whatever makes YOU happy - do more of it!

Wash your hands

Wash your hands often - and keep continuing to do so. Do NOT forget to moisturize after!! Winter is awful enough on our skin.

Value yourself and send positive thoughts

Look at yourself in the mirror every morning or night before you head into work and verbally express to your reflection something good about yourself. It doesn’t need to be about appearance, but something that will help you start the day and feeling valued.

Add more fruit and color to your diet

Eat a cup of fruits a day - no matter how you can intake it - a smoothie, a small bag of berries - whatever you can tolerate, do it! Eat more vibrant colors in your diet.

Get into the habit of packing a lunch

Pack your lunch the night before - and no snacking!

Bring your lunch

Always take a lunch - no excuses!

Use photos for positivity

Put a timer on your phone for a photo to pop up that gives you a warm feeling inside - your niece or nephew? A puppy you don't even know? A meditation App? Go for it!

Decompress after work or a long day

Decompress in a healthy way after work - silence on the radio? A tool on the radio? Whatever helps you unload your worries.

What are some achievable small goals you're working on in 2020 that you know are attainable?
