4 Apps I Use to Help Manage My Crohn’s Disease

It’s no secret that nowadays there is an app for everything! And boy is it so true. So what applications are out there for Crohn’s disease? Well, actually there are a few.

Apps for Crohn's disease

I have dabbled into a few apps for Crohn's and found some to be somewhat helpful, while others are extremely helpful! Of course, with the intense amount of turnaround involved with technology, it can be hard to keep up. Every day, there are new things being debuted and others that are being upgraded.

Overall, I have found the following applications to be helpful in my Crohn’s journey so I thought I would share.

Crohn's app 1: Cara Care

This application, in my opinion, is the absolute best for anyone with Crohn’s disease. It covers everything from bowel movements to food and water intake. Overall, it keeps you organized and motivated to stay on track with your meals, meds, mental health, healthy lifestyle, and more!

Firstly, the platform itself is nicely set up. The app is completely user-friendly with clear icons, directions, and organized flow. Here are all the things it tracks: it’s a food journal, it tracks water intake, bowel movements, digestive symptoms (are you bloated, do you have abdominal pain, etc.), mental health, medications, period calendar, skin conditions, exercise, sleep, pain, and anything else you want to add! All in one application.

In addition, one thing I love is that with all the information you provide, it organizes the data and offers your graphs. For example, you can begin to see patterns and correlate food with symptoms and bowel movements, etc.  What an amazing tool! I highly suggest downloading it. Oh, and it is totally free.

Crohn's app 2: D Minder Pro

This app I stumbled upon and am so glad I did. I have always had issues with my vitamin D levels. I just never seem to have enough, and going outside is not something I tend to do regularly if left up to me.

But! All of this can change with the D Minder app.

Believe it or not, this app tracks your vitamin D levels. We all know the absolute best way to get vitamin D is through the sun. So this app has you input your location and it then tells you the optimal times to go outside in order for you to absorb vitamin D. Isn’t that amazing?

Ever since I started using this application I have found myself going outside more so that I can absorb this important and essential vitamin. You should give it a try. And yes, it’s also completely free!

Crohn's app 3: Low FODMAP Diet A to Z

I loosely follow the FODMAP diet. At times I follow it with more rigor, and other times just here and there. But with this app, regardless of how intense I want to be with the diet, this tool is beyond helpful!

Basically, you can search for a food and within a second you can see whether it is a FODMAP or not. Easy peasy.  Again, it is free and extremely user-friendly.

Crohn's app 4: MyQuest for Patients

At my doctor’s office, I have to get blood drawn elsewhere rather than on-site. The office I go to is called Quest. They have their own application in which the moment your test results are available, you get a notification and can view them.

There are times where I receive the results to my tests via the app faster than when my doctor’s office calls me to give the results. So if you also have to get your blood drawn outside of your doctor’s office, I suggest downloading the app to stay on top of test results.  It’s quick, easy and always nice to know you have access to results as quickly as they come.
