Crohn's at age 64

I was diagnosed at age 20 by a Gastro in NYC. Saw him with my mom, typical Jewish Mother. He saw the interaction with my mom freaking out and her questions about why me and did she feed me the wrong foods etc. He was a very bright guy with an amazing patient list of Crohnies and UC folks. He looks at me and he looks at my mom and he says to me - MOVE OUT - my mother almost lunged across his desk to strangle him. One of the funniest/saddest memories of this dreadful disease.

Over the years I have had one monster surgery at the Cleveland Clinic by a brilliant surgeon. They fixed 42 strictures and he promised me we would eat a steak together in a few months - and we did!! Years of prednisone led to tibea break followed years later by a femur break - brittle bones from all the prednisone. So here I am today, there is no pain and not really on any drugs, lomotil and imodium only. And I still go many many times a day with at least one urge that always beats me to it - pretty much daily accidents. Some days 2 or 3 even because it comes out so fast. Really no solution for this although I started eating rice and it seems to help a bit.

God Bless all my fellow warriors! We use that same term for dialysis folks also (which I am too thanks to the Crohn's killing my kidneys!)
