Adaimuab jab

Does anyone getting this termeant have pain after taken the jab?

  1. Hi ! Thanks for reaching out. I'm assuming you're referring to Adalimumab? (The biosimilar of Humira.) As far as pain goes, I do know that some of our community members do experience pain at the injection site. Is this the type of pain you're referring to? Hopefully some of our community members here can share their experiences with you.

In the meantime, I wanted to share a couple of articles with you. This article, written by one of our advocates, talks about his take on biologics, which includes some of his tips, https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/biologics-for-perianal-crohns. And another advocate included her tips for injections in this article, https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/expect-during-injection-biologic. And finally, another advocate wrote about the pain at the injection site he experienced as well as his decision to change medication, https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/new-medication.

Hopefully these articles can give you some insights while you wait to hear from other community members here.

Wishing you a gentle day! -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

    1. Hi . On top of the excellent information from Christine, I want to ask if anyone has mentioned the "Citrate-free" form of Humira or the biosimilars? Do you know if the form you are taking has the citrate or not? I ask this because the original form of Humira contains citrate, as do some of the biosimilars, as a buffer/preservative. A lot of people experience painful injections with this form, so the manufacturer developed a citrate-free version, which uses a different buffer, that is supposed to be less painful. Your doctor should be able to answer questions on whether your drug has the citrate and whether it would be possible to get the citrate-free form. Hope this information helps.
