Advice please possible ibd

Hello.

My name is Dean and for the past 6 months, I’ve been suffering.
I wanted to post in here, in the hopes of maybe someone can relate and put my mind at rest that the symptoms I am having maybe ibd (instead of the dreaded c word)

I have had an ultrasound which came back clear, I have been referred to a Gastroenterologist.

I have what feels like a pressure in the left hand side of my stomach. ( I feel it when lying down or sitting)
It feels like something is in there.
I have Diarrhea all the time and recently it’s got more pungent.
I am having lots of trapped wind more bowl movement everyday. Like 4 a day.
Now my bum is really itching as well.
I’m sorry for the graphic descriptions.

Does this sound like ibd to people.
The thing in my left of stomach is most annoying and worrisome.
I haven’t had and blood in my stool as of yet

  1. Hi Dean,

Sorry to hear you’ve been having a rough go of it, hope this info helps!

When you get to your GI appointment...be ready with a detailed list of your symptoms (all the way to the gross and itchy!), your questions, and any test results from procedures or labs you’ve had done up to this point. He/she will then take history, perform an exam, and talk about the next steps to take. Those will more than likely be a colonoscopy, a full blood work up, possibly an MRI, and possibly a referral to a Colorectal Surgeon.

The twenty million dollar question here- does your case sound like IBD? Sure, absolutely. Could it be something else? Sure, absolutely. Without the knowledge of seeing what’s going on inside...one can only speculate.

The good news? If that is what you ultimately get diagnosed with (although I will say a prayer for you tonight!) there is a TON of information and support to be found here. I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease just about three years ago and I’m still learning, navigating a path, and trying to cope with my illness. Sometimes just reading the experiences of others has given me hope and positivity. This website overall has truly been an excellent resource.

I’ll be sending nothing but good and positive vibes your way!!

    Connie
