Been side effect free for 5 years now

Hi I was diagnosed at age 14 and started on asacol but when that didn’t work I would go back on prednisone. This would be on and off for a few years then started taking mercaptopurine ever since. I then decided to start trying different supplements and once I started taking vitamin D vitamin C a fish oil glutathione for my liver milk thistle and artichoke leaf extract I have not had run to the bathroom since (tried other supplements too but this is the one I’m staying on) hope this can put someone else in remission for a very long time as well instead of taking those awful drugs.

  1. Hi , thanks so much for sharing what's been helping you! It's wonderful you've found some things that help you manage your symptoms and put you in remission. It's great when community members can share with each other the things that have helped them get some relief.

I know other community members here have also found alternative/complementary therapies more helpful (although it's important to remember that what works for one person won't necessarily work for another). In fact, we have an article on this that people who read your comment might be interested in, https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/treatment/complementary-and-alternative-therapies.

Again, it is so great that you're getting some relief, and that you're sharing your success with the community here. Wishing you continued relief! -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)
