Bleeding from rectum

Hi there does anyone have bleeding from rectum when passing stools during a ibd flare up. Any ideas how to help with issues pls

  1. Hi , and thanks for reaching out. Rectal bleeding is not uncommon (especially with UC), so I just want to reassure you that you are not alone. Unfortunately, the treatment for rectal bleeding really depends on what is causing it, but in the case of IBD, typically the treatment for it would be treating the IBD itself. I'm linking an article here with more information, https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/symptoms/rectal-bleeding. Have you had a chance to speak with your doctor about the bleeding as well? Hopefully, in addition to feedback here, you can get some information from your doctor as well. Wishing you a gentle day. -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

    1. I have terrible rectal bleeding for past 9 days with my first flare. I had a c t scan done. Inflammation is extremely high. My blood work was done and it wasn't as bad as the doctor thought it would be but I was consistent in making sure I took an electrolyte drink and sipped on bone broth all day.

I'm still not great but bleeding has subsided.

On a side note, my friend told me about bum wipes that really help with calming the area down after a movement. They are made by Anusol.

      Hope you feel better soon

      1. ooh no, your first flare and nine days of rectal bleeding sounds tough. I'm so glad to hear that you're doing better(ish), and hope you continue to see improvement. Thank you so much for joining the conversation and sharing your experience and tips. The calming bum wipes sound very soothing, and electrolyte drink is a great idea too! -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)
