Fasting & Going

I had a total colectomy seven years ago. The procedure was obviously life changing but largely successful.

Recently I was diagnosed with a yeast infection and bloods revealed high inflammatory markers.

This week I decided to fast for three days, water only. The fast was not new but what happened this time was new.

I have been "going" pretty much every hour on the hour for three days, despite not eating anything. The quantities have been remarkable.

Can anyone relate? Have I been constipated or, compacted, with realising? The yeast infection has calmed significantly although "going" that many times becomes painful. The pain of the yeast infection has reduced significantly.

Why would I be going so much literally days in my fast?

  1. Hi . Your questions are certainly understandable. I need to note that we are not medical professionals and for your protection cannot offer medical or diagnostic advice. I do know that the high inflammatory markers can absolutely be caused by infection. I also found that, while not all that common, diarrhea during fasting can occur (see: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/diarrhea-during-fasting). Were you having any trouble with bowel movements prior to the fasting? Have you had a chance to speak to your doctor about this issue? Hopefully others with more direct experience will chime in. Also hoping you can get some answers from your medical team. Best, Richard (Team Member)
