Help with experience

My son Ruben, is currently on his second stint in hospital with an unknown infection causing a sore throat, mouth sores and raging fevers. He suffered for month with explosive diarrhea 2-3 times a day. Weight loss and fatigue. I have mentioned Crohns after researching symptoms and getting Drs to listen and take me seriously is like getting blood from a stone. I'm wondering if any diagnosed persons here have experienced similar and what tips can you give to get medical professionals to actually listen.

  1. I would definitely push for testing for Crohn's to rule it out. I was diagnosed by a colonoscopy with biopsy which they can do in the ER. Also blood work like CRP to check inflammation and Fecal Calprotectin test which is a stool sample. It shows inflammation in the gut. As far as getting doctors to listen to you. That's a hard question to answer. You just have to continue to press and take don't take no for an answer. Here is an article that goes over diagnostic testing for Crohn's if you want more info: https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/diagnostic-tests-and-procedures

    1. how old is your son, is he sexually active, just wondering if you have 2 separate issues going on.....any chance he contracted HERPES.....when you get herpes, the 1st episode can be all of the throat symptoms you mentioned as well as the fever.....not trying to alarm you, sorry, just thinking outside of the box....if it is that, then you have a path of healing for the throat, and I can then help you with the gut/rear end
