Weird Symptoms

Hi everybody! My name is Liv and I just got diagnosed with Crohn's (and mild celiac disease) a couple days ago. I have all your typical IBD symptoms but I also have 3 that stand out a little bit.. I get really bad growing pains in my arms and legs, especially at night and it keeps me up at night. I’m 20 years old and don’t know anyone over the age of 10 who’s still getting them. I always feel like I’m starving, y’know that kinda hungry when you’ve been so busy you haven’t eaten in 12 hours? It’s that level of hunger pains but constantly. No matter how much or often I eat I also dry heave/gag out of nowhere for no reason. Sometimes it’s after food and other times I could be having a conversation with someone and start to dry heave. Has anyone/ know anyone who’s ever had symptoms similar to this? Or have absolutely any idea why things like this would be going on?

  1. Hey there . I hope that others are able to chime in with their own personal experiences, and of course we always encourage (if you haven't already) to bring up any new/worsening symptoms with your doctor to eliminate any potential underlying causes. There are many symptoms that come along with IBD, that go much beyond the ones discusses the most often. IBD can cause inflammation in places outside the digestive track, like the joints: https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/symptoms/inflammation-of-the-joints-skin-and-eyes/ Experiencing constant hunger pains is a challenge that many here face too, and it definitely is uncomfortable. Our team member, Paul, actually wrote an article about this that might resonate with you: https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/always-hungry/ We hope you're able to find some relief from these challenges, and please never hesitate to reach out to us here! Gently, Ashley (IBD Team)
