Legal liability of someone allowing you to use toilet
A Crohn's sufferer may need to use a toilet urgently. In UK, sufferers can have a card stating they have Crohn's and may need to use a toilet. I belong to a dance group and today refused use of our facility to a member of the public with a child. His explanation was that 1) We could be liable should child have accident on the premises. 2) Everyone in the group would need to have a Criminal Record check if child present. Is this so?

I would be intersted to know the answer to this question as well. Certainly, I would think, in the very least, you can threaten the owner of an establishment with a lawsuit to get them to fold and let you use the toilet. In New York, many places seem to say, you must BUY SOMETHING to use the toilet. If it is a private establishment, I believe it is within their right (although I'm not sure if someone has a card and verified disability). Anyway, as far as I know it's a bit murky. But just the threat of legal action I would think would allow you to use the bathroom in many cases.
