My Wife May Have Colitis

Two days ago, in the evening, suddenly my wife became very nauseous, with severe abdominal pain on her left side, with forceful and intense vomiting, dark and bright blood in her stool, much blood. She is now in the local hospital, with diarrhea, no appetite for any food, on liquid diet by the hospital, high pain in abdominal area. At this point, the doctors' prognosis is Colitis. I am totally new to Colitis and this is very scary. Is there a way for her to fully recover from these conditions?

  1. I am sorry your wife is going through so much pain! I would reccomend checking out the ulcerative colitis forum and articles. There are some very informative pieces in there and you may find that someone else has gone through something very similar. Also a good idea: search some articles on tips and tricks to get by. Hot or cold packs and pressure can sometimes ease some of the abdominal pain during a flare. I am sure a team member will be able to offer some more help and guidance soon. I wish the best of luck to you and your wife!

    1. Hi , I know it's been a couple months since you posted, so I just wanted to follow up to see how you and your wife are doing! I'm hoping she has been able to get some relief and answers. 2. Hi ,

I actually had active left sided ulcerative colitis before I had my colon removed. Her symptoms sound very familiar. With a proper treatment plan, she can work on getting her symptoms under control.

She needs to rest as much as possible, hydrate and find a GI that specializes in IBD.
