Need support at Amsterdam

Hey good people,

I've moved to Amsterdam just recently and Unfortunately I'm having a breakup. First thing I should to is to find a good doctor. I have a healthcare plan, its name is CZdirect. Is there any IBD patient living in Amsterdam who can guide me?

I'm taking Azathioprine and Corticosteroid, I was reducing the dosage of corticosteroid as my previous doctor recommended but I started feeling unwell after reducing it.
I have had more than 5 breakups during 7 years and I know how bad it gets worse but as well I know what to eat to help my symptoms a bit.

Thanks in advance

  1. So sorry you aren't feeling well. When I wean off steroids, I have found that the slower the better. Ask your doctor about dropping 2.5mg every 7-10 days. It is helpful at making you not feel sick. I don't live in Amsterdam, so I hope someone from this community will be able to connect with you from that area. I hope you feel better soon. 1. Hi Elizabeth. Thanks for your kind words and your information.

You might be right, the reason of my flareup can be dropping steroids quickly. I was dropping 4mg every 10 days, that's my doctor's instruction. I was taking 16mg two times per day and now I'm taking 12mg + 4mg. My previous doctor is in another country. I should find a doctor here quickly because I want to stay in Amsterdam.

      1. Of course, I am not a doctor but from my personal experience you were definitely dropping too fast. At that rate I would flare too. Ask your doc to drop much much slower. Again, something like 2.5mg every 10 to even 14 days. I wish you well! -Elizabeth (team member)
