Prednisolone - How long before they start working

I'm in the middle of a nasty flare. I'm on prednisolone at the moment and waiting to start Entyvio.
Just wondered how long before steroids start to work?
I've been on 40mg for 1 week and seen some improvement but still have blood and mucous.

the steroids should start working soon, but the Entyvio will really help. I was still on steroids for aprox 1.5 months (tapered every 2 weeks) after starting Entyvio. I didn’t have any reactions to Entyvio & still don’t, but it’s still very unnerving going into the Cancer Lab & having an infusion. Hope you get to be feeling better soon! Really appreciate your reply. How long have you been having Entyvio? How has it been for you? Any side effects? I go for my first dose next week and a bit nervous but optimistic I had no reactions, they say many don’t! Be prepared that it will take a few infusions to get your body all up & ready, I think it’s like week 0,2,4,6 & then you will be every 8 weeks. Remember to tell your nurse at the hospital & your dr how you are feeling once you get to week 8. Personally I was having colon discomfort starting at week 7, so they changed me to every 7 weeks now vs 8. I’ve been on it for 10 months. I recently just had a flare (I was traveling….of course), so expect that it may take upwards of a yr from what I understand to really help to get me into remission as much as possible.

Pred usually helps pretty quickly, which is why we are given it as an interim whilst a maintenance therapy is sorted and given time to take effect.
IF Entyvio works, it can take up to 14 weeks. However, it could be a lot sooner than that. I think 14 weeks is the maximum, so basically that is the amount of time your IBD team would give it before deciding that you aren't responding and moving onto another treatment option.
