Trying to find another doctor.

I was diagnosed with chronic chrohns at the age of 16. I'm now 51 and I my GP of 30 years has retired.
I can't seem to find a doctor that understands me condition. I'm now getting other symptoms like bruising all over, depression, anxiety, joint pain and insomnia. I have osteoarthritis and my bone density is very bad from the steroids I have been on over the years. Have had 4 operations for fistula. I've been on infliximab infusions for the past 6 years, which are now starting to not work. I'm looking for a local Gp that's understands and will help me. I'm in Morayfield QLD
sorry for the rant.
Belinda

  1. Hi Belinda (). You never have to worry about ranting here. You mention finding a new GP. Do you or did you have a gastroenterologist? I ask because a gastroenterologist should certainly be more likely to understand. I know finding a good doctor (GP or Gastro) is easier said than done, but I want to share with you this article from our contributor Paul on choosing a gastroenterologist: https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/choosing-gastroenterologist.
Also, you definitely are not alone with bruising issues. Jenna wrote about it here: https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/bruising-with-crohns. I'm sure many recognize the other symptoms. A specialist on autoimmune conditions, such as a gastroenterologist, should also understand the impact of steroids and finding a new treatment. Hoping you can get some answers and relief soon.
