Road To Recovery
I have Crohn’s and UC and I am 46 years old. 9/2018 I lost all of my large bowel and have only 11% of my small bowel left. I've been in the hospital every month all the way up to now with flares, fishers, fistulas, abscesses and still battling with the bile duct malabsorption.
I average anywhere from 15-20 bowel movements a day. I have failed at every medicine out there! It truly sucks to no end. I have become a hermit and a binge watcher of Netflix. If I go out I am afraid of having an accident. I know where all the clean bathrooms are from here to everywhere and I carry a change of clothes and all in my “?” bag. I don’t eat much because they did my small bowel follow through and my stomach dumps anywhere from 30 minutes to a hour. So I can pretty much time a bowel movement and nobody better be in my way to the bathroom.
I see my new Gastro doctor on Thursday. I’m not sure what he can do since all other options have been tried. I can’t do any type of IV treatments as they throw me into a vent and ICU. Diet of rice, applesauce and lots of bananas helps some too.
I do have pain meds and nausea meds, my PCP has taken care of me forever. Medical Marijuana isn’t legal in Virginia yet, but I am making strides in getting emails to the Governor and anyone else.
I will pray for all of you that are struggling and have struggled for a long time. My life isn’t over by any means, I have a positive attitude and hope one day we can all be cured??
