2 postives stool tests

New here and just wanting some more information. So I have been takin in to hospital twice now thus year, with sever tummy pain. First time they thought it was a urine infection so gave me antibiotics and sent me on my way. Second time they thought It was my appendix.. so they scanned me. Scan showed I had cysts on my overys and I was totally blocked (as in severly constipated) this pain had my spewing and not being able to walk. They gave me laxatives an sent me on my way. They told me to go get bloods done by my doctor so I did that and mentioned the cysts. The nurse said I had to make an appointment with the doctor. So did that and the doctor I got was amazing. He looked right in to what was going on. He asked if he could have a feel of my tummy and when he pushed on it I nearly hit the roof. Instant sharp pain. He got me to take a test for testing blood in the stool. Did that.. came back with blood detected. So asked me to do the same test again and a calprotectin test to. I found out a few days ago the test came back with blood again and there is inflamation. He never told me the level it was (I didn't know there was to ask) he has now referred me to the hospital for more tests.

Now my tummy has been sore to touch like he did for years. I also have a hernia after having my little one.

What am wondering is if anyone has had thee results and got no further. He's said am getting test for a IBD. Which is in the family. But am just salvaged incase the hospital ain't gonna find anything and am gonna be left in the dark not knowing whatbis going on. My symptoms are chronic tummy pain to touch and sometimes after I eat. Weight loss. Change in bowl movements. Dizzyness and faint feeling. Passing blood.

Honestly.. am just abit nervous about it all.

  1. Thank you for posting your question and I am sorry you are experiencing such pain, as well as a run around from your doctor.
Have you been scheduled for a colonoscopy? That is often how a diagnosis is confirmed since they can look at your intestines and take biopsies.
I have also had pain that was mistaken for appendicitis, as sometimes it is deferred pain from another area of the body, but if you can continue to get the tests your doctor has ordered, it would be beneficial to receive a proper diagnosis so that it can be properly treated. I know that it can be scary, but having more answers so that you can fix the problem and relieve your pain is worth the tests and doctor's appointments.
Please keep us posted on how your tests go and the results.

    1. Hello , you really are going through a lot right now, I'm so glad you reached out. The feelings that you're having are so understandable and valid, and I hope that this community can help support you and reassure you that you aren't alone. A lot of people here worry about diagnosis and whether or not the next doctor they see will take their symptoms seriously. I am really hopeful for you that when you go to the hospital for more testing you get some answers, but, if not, please don't hesitate to advocate for yourself and push for answers. It sounds like the doctor who did your initial testing (and pushed on your tummy) listened to you and wanted to get in there to find out why you're having these symptoms, so you could always go back to him if you find the hospital testing lacking.

That being said, it's great that you are going to the hospital for further testing as getting the further testing can really help you get a diagnosis and some answers. While I'm not sure what testing they are ordering, I did want to share some information on diagnosis procedure/testing with you, https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/diagnosis (hopefully that can give you some helpful information).

Please don't hesitate to reach out here anytime, whether you have questions, need to vend, or could use some support. We are here for you! And, if you're comfortable, please keep us posted with how you're doing and what you find out. Sending you gentle hugs. -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)
