Anti depressants

Hi ! Thanks for asking about this! I have not been on anti-depressants, but I have considered it. When I talked with my doctor, they said there are usually no interactions between the meds so she was okay with me starting them, but she did mention I might see more diarrhea in the beginning.


I think it makes sense that you are feeling these side effects coming off the steroids, since steroids do affect the mood. I think it would be worthwhile to speak to your doctor about these side effects. (If you are experiencing any thoughts of suicide, please go to the ER though.) I think it's possible they would recommend anti-depressants, but maybe not if it's just the steroids causing a lower mood for now. Keep in mind anti-depressants may take some time to work and by the time they do, you may be off the steroids.


If you think your depression is coming from something other than the meds, I think talking with a psychologist would be a great idea. I have been in and out of therapy, especially concerning chronic illness and it has been really helpful!
