Any experience with the drug Mesalamine

on the drug currently, i get generic which is 1.2gms per pill and take 3 a day..They dont work over nite and can take a few months to see a difference, however you should see minimal changes in a week, depending how much you take..Its a toss up if it works as well as you think it should or move onto the next stage, most brand names UC drugs like Pentasa contain melsalimine

I took mesalamine for 12 years, but found that it didn't work for me as well, after I took it for a number of years. I tried alternative methods for a few years which included detoxing. I then tried to go back on mesalamine 1-2 years ago, but found out I'm allergic to it now. I'm currently taking supplements and vitamins for my mild/ moderate Crohn's. I get blood work done every 6 weeks to watch my liver function, cholesterol numbers, and many other functions.

it was 1 of the 1st drugs drs tried me on for my crohns. It was ineffective. Nothing helped until they decided to try me on a biologic. Within a few months of trying Humira, i reached a remission that's lasted me almost 7 yrs now, thus far! As well, I've had no side effects. Highly recommend!
