Azathioprine experiences

Hi ! I was not on Azathiopurine, but I was on 6-MP (another drug in the same class). I had to get off the medication because it didn't suit my body, but I know many people who have been on it and felt better. For some it has also been an extra medication they add on top of their biologic. The only reason it didn't suit me was because I actually am lacking a gene to process it, so it was a very specific situation. Thank you so much for your quick and very informative active response! Can I ask about mesalamine, do you have experience with mesalamine? I’m trying to figure out which is the safest long term approach I can take for my crohn’s as I am aware of a lot of the side effects of the different treatments and it always scares me.

I was on azathioprine (Imuran) for 8 years and, for me, didn't have any problems with it. I was taking it in combination with Remicade.
