Clipper

So I'm newly diagnosed with UC. My symptoms aren't what I would call severe compared to some of you warriors but I do have lower abdominal pain, urgency and bleeding most of the time. Octasa and budenoside don't seem to be working and clipper (a more gentle steroid than pred) has been mentioned by my nurse. Any stories/advice ? I haven't changed my diet so thats also something I'm looking into but its never been mentioned by the professionals I've spoken too.

  1. HI Lindzi, sorry to hear about your symptoms but we can all relate. I don't have any experience with your meds as I was on prednisone for over 20 years, but with my 34 years of experience with Crohn's I can say that keeping track of your diet is a great idea. Not sure why they haven't suggested that yet. I kept a food journal in the beginning of my diagnosis for years. I kept track of what I ate or drank, when I ate or drank, how I was feeling, the results after I ate (urgency, diarrhea, constipation, blood, etc) and then you can see what happens after you eat or drink something. For me, it was dairy mostly and "healthy" foods, instant coffee, etc.
If I had to suggest something, I would definitely start a journal.

    1. Hi , unfortunately I haven't been on Clipper but I did have some luck using rectal steroids instead of oral ones. I wrote about that here: https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/rectal-medications That helped me clear up my flare while I was on a biologic as well. Please keep us updated on how things are going for you!

      1. just checking in to see how you're getting on? Did you end up making any changes to your diet?
