Covid vaccine query
I have read that the main cause of death for people with IBD is blood clots. Bit worried about covid vaccines and blood clots. I know they say vaccine is low risk for clots but why are they including it in their side effects to look out for. It might be low risk for healthy people but what about people with IBD. Astrazeneca and pfizer has had clot worries. I have UC and I am not sure what to do. I'm scared of covid and scared of vaccine. Unsure what to do?

Thanks for your reply. I have emailed my IBD nurse with this question and I am waiting for a reply. Was wondering if I took fish oil supplements to thin the blood before I had vaccine would help? Are other people with IBD worried about this?, Okay, definitely interested to hear what she says. I really have no idea with fish oil would help. As far as what I have been seeing from the community, I haven't heard specifically about the concern from blood clots. But just in general, I have read many that are concerned with getting the vaccine while being on biologics and how that would effect. Hugs, Elizabeth (team member)

As soon as I hear from my IBD nurse, I will let you know. I can understand the concern with biologics. It's a worrying time for a lot of people.Didn't hear from IBD nurse. Emails came back 'undeliverable'. Tried to phone but answer message said unable to leave message. However, this morning, I went and had a Covid vaccine (Astrazeneca). Had a bit of a sore arm and headache then slept all afternoon. Feel relieved to have had it as society is opening up and worried about catching Covid.
