Crohn’s disease - normally symptoms?

Hi everyone,
This is my first time reaching out on a platform like this. I have Crohn’s disease and was diagnosed at 13years old. I am 26 now. This past January I was hospitalized for a partial bowel obstruction. I currently take Stelara every 4 weeks. Lately I’ve been noticing bloating in certain areas of my stomach. I’ve also been experiencing unintentional weight loss. Does anyone else with Crohn’s experience bloating and weight loss? As of this morning, I’m switching to nutritional shakes and liquid diet to give my bowels a break for a few days. I just get worried whenever I feel discomfort, bloating and weight loss that I’m having a possible partial bowel obstruction again. My mind immediately thinks about negative possibilities. My Crohn’s disease is in my small intestine and I do have narrowing in some areas. Any insight or advice would help. I’ve been having a lot of anxiety lately of all the “what if’s.” Can anyone share their experiences with symptoms during a Crohn’s flare?

  1. Hi , thank you so much for reaching out. It sounds like you’ve been through quite a lot and we’re so glad you’ve found our community. It can be so hard to not stress out and have anxiety around all of these symptoms and the "what ifs". Unfortunately, that stress can just make everything worse 🙁 Unintentional weight loss and bloating are certainly not uncommon symptoms. Have you discussed these concerns with your doctor?

Also, I wanted to share some articles written by our advocates and editorial team that discuss these symptoms.

I hope some other community members will chime in with their experiences as well. You certainly aren't alone here.. please reach out to us anytime! We all understand and are here for you. Thinking of you, Pam (team member)

    1. I hope things are better for you now?
Both bloating and weight loss are pretty common symptoms.
