dealing with the changes UC or Crohn's makes in life

living with Crohn's or UC changes a lot of things and it can be difficult to deal with the sudden changes. how do you deal with the uncertainty and unpredictability of this illness?

  1. What a great forum discussion, ! Thanks so much for starting this. There definitely can be a lot of uncertainty and unpredictability with inflammatory bowel diseases and I hope our community members can chime in here and share some of how they manage and deal. I also wanted to share this article from one of our health leaders with some of her tips for living with the unpredictability, https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/tips-unpredictability (note, the article is from 2019, definitely still applicable though). I hope you get some helpful feedback from the community here! Wishing you a gentle day. -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

    1. For me, mental health is so important. It sounds silly but always choosing to look at situations positively makes the difference in this hard journey. I made a lot of jokes and forced myself to laugh when things seemed to be unbearable. I also always chose to believe in my body. And believed if I found the right tools to heal my body, then it would. Whenever emergencies would happen in public, I would also make a point not to ruminate in the shame and just move on and enjoy the rest of my day. -Elizabeth (team member)
