Feeling scared

Hi everyone I’ve been going through a bit of a difficult one with my crohns and I’m anemic too which doesn’t help. I’ve noticed that I’ve been getting a fair bit of anxiety just in general worrying about my condition and feeling fearful. Today is another one of those days where I’m feeling this way and sincerely just want a big hug from someone who understands. Feeling very lonely even though I do have loved ones who care but unfortunately don’t understand in the slightest. I’m desperate for relief and some days I’m ashamed to say I often feel like giving up. Please send healing well wishes my way. Many thanks ❤️

  1. Oh, my goodness! I'm sorry I didn't see your message sooner!! How are you doing today? Are you feeling any better? I understand what it's like to worry and feel anxiety--especially when living with IBD. Please do some DEEP breathing exercises whenever the anxiety really builds. That really helps put me at ease. Your cells will really appreciate you taking deep breaths. I would also suggest either yoga or mediation or both if you enjoy them. Truly, when a ROUGH day hits with Crohn's, that's when you should amp up the self-care. I don't mean for any of this to come across as "cheesy." I truly believe in the power of TLC. On the days, that my UC gets to be too much, that's the day I curl up with a heating pad, a good book, and my dog. That's the BEST therapy for me! Whatever brings YOU comfort, please resort to doing! Your body and mind need it! And phooey on anyone who requests any more of you. The down days are when I believe in the power of doing as little as possible. Just be good to YOU. If you need any other self-care ideas, please feel free to check out our articles here. Ironically, I just wrote an article about "anemia." You might want to read the comments at the end. Some readers offered up suggestions about dealing with it. Here's the link if you'd like to check out the comments: https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/anemia-ulcerative-colitis . I truly hope you are feeling better today. I'm sending positive vibes and BIG HUGS your way!! Please let us know how you're doing! --Traci, UC-IBD Team Member

    1. Thank you so much, Traci. This message from you has helped me immensely and brought me much comfort. I will save this message and resort back to it whenever I need that extra comfort. Big hugs back ❤️

      1. Hi, sorry to hear you are having a tough time right now with your Crohns. I agree with about worry and anxiety. I think it's a natural part of IBD unfortunately. Mental health is yet another part of IBD hidden from others. I learned eventually the need to take time for myself, "me time", from time to time. There are articles on here from others on self-care that may work for you. Some days I just "turn off" to help my symptoms. I used to keep a diary to help me vent which I turned into a blog.
I hope you're doing better today and also sending along the positive vibes!! We all need them. Please let us know how you are doing!
