High crp blood test results

Hi I had some routine blood tests yesterday as I'm suffering with stomach and bowel issues, my results are back as I viewed them online but my doctors are now closed. I've seen this result and it's worrying me, has anyone else had a result like this Serum C reactive protein level (XaINL) 13 mg/L

  1. Have you heard from your doctor since you wrote your post yesterday? I'm no physician, and all I know about high CRP levels is that it usually indicates there's inflammation in the body. If you're dealing with stomach/bowel issues, then maybe this test indicates some level of IBD. But you definitely need to speak to your doctor about this. Hopefully, you have a follow-up appointment scheduled to discuss the blood test results. Please let us know what you find out. In the meantime, be good to yourself. Do whatever activities relax you. For me, it's either reading, writing, playing with my dog, doing yoga, or relaxing in a warm bubble bath. Just find things to do that distract you mentally from the bowel issues. I know it's not easy. Our guts seem to dictate how a person feels overall. Hopefully, you find out all the information you need to know real soon! 1. thankyou for your reply. My GP is now closed until Monday due to the bank holidays so I'm left worrying and wondering what this could be. I made the mistake of asking Google and the results on there weren't great 🤦.

Do most people have high crp levels before being diagnosed with ibd.

    2. Honestly, I don't know. I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis when I was 19-years-old. I'm now 52, and, sadly, I can't remember that far back. Maybe someone who has been diagnosed recently will chime in with their experience. What I will tell you is that "worrying and wondering" will only make your bowel issues worse. As the mind goes, so goes the body. So, please find a way to soothe yourself. Will your worrying gain you anything by Monday? Nooo. It will only exacerbate your stress. My hope is that you find the most pleasing activities you can until you speak to a health professional on Monday. If it doesn't feel good, don't do it. (That means "Googling." Ha Ha!) Please, please be GOOD to yourself. Be gentle and kind. And let us know what you learn next week. Until then, relax, unwind, and take lots of naps. Hugs! --Traci, UC-IBD Team Member

  2. I assume you managed to catch up with your GP? Above 5 indicates inflammation, but that could be anywhere in the body, and 13 is relatively low in terms of Inflammatory bowel disease. CRP is often raised a lot higher than that for an IBD flare.
