I’m Tired of The Cycle

I have been battling UC and Crohns for at least 40years. Biologics make me feel worse. entocort works very well. My Dr is biologic happy. As soon as my symptoms stabilizes he starts his rhetoric to try another biologic. I'm tired of being forced to either suffer or suffer. If I refuse biologics he punishes with no meds at all. He also seems to think that joint pain is not typical for IBD. I’m really needing answers.

  1. Hi , I'm really sorry you're going through this with your doctor. Which biologics have you tried? I'm sorry they make you feel worse. Is it possible to get a second opinion? I'm surprised this doctor thinks that joint pain is not typical for IBD, so I wonder if another doctor might have clearer insight! -Eshani (IBD Team Member)

    1. Hi this is the weirdest part of the entire situation. When I began with this Dr, he was adamant that I shouldn’t ever go on biologics again due to my history. He also noted a few months ago when I began Entocort that my joint pain was the Crohns flair. Now he seems to have completely flipped his opinions and it all began when I told him that since on entocort I am much better. It’s as if he has an oppositional personality. He is also part of a huge medical group. Unfortunately getting another opinion is difficult because he is connected with both other available groups that off GI care. I’m considering another City in my state.

      1. sorry, I just noticed this thread and realized the question had already been asked!
I hope you do manage to see another doc!

      2. thanks anyway
        At least you care.

    2. This sounds terrible! I would change doctors immediately. If you don't want to take biologics then he needs to provide options for treatments. That is his job. -Elizabeth (team member)

      1. Thank you for the support and the link

      2. You are so welcome. Yes! Best of luck. You deserve a great medical team. Hugs, Elizabeth (team member)

    3. I'm sorry you're going through this. Also, IBD-related arthritis is definitely a thing!
      Can you see someone else?
