Hello everyone! I’m new to this site. Not new to IBD. It’s been 7 years since I got the ulcerative colitis diagnosis. Which was a relief cause I’ve spent a year trying to figure out what’s wrong. Although my calprotectin was alway fine colonoscopy showed inflammation. So I started Salofalk and prednisone, after 5 months Instarted eating again!!!! And puttin on weight!!! I still had pain sometimes and often went to toilet 3-4 times but never had diarrhea. While I was on the medication ,had another colonoscopy which showed that I have only microscopic colitis!! Which was happy news! Stopped prednisone, but stayed in Pentasa. My story is very long. Anyway, started getting diarrhea very often. Was out in Budesonide . It worked but not that well. I had to stop it cause the benefit was less than side effects. Since 1 year, have been getting diarrhea very often.Like every month. It stays for 2-3 weeks, then goes away, I start eating, it comes back. I’m on Pentasa. Recently got new colono ,which showed proctitis. Which I didn’t have before!!! Everything is so complicated. And I’m just suffering but can’t find the solution. I’m 33 and really want to go back to some what normal, toilet free life!!!! It really takes a toll on the mental health too. And I really want to communicate with ppl who are like me. Who understand what it’s like.

  1. Oh , my heart goes out to you. What a frustrating process to be experiencing when one thing seems to lead to another. You have found the right place here as far as connecting with people who are like you and who understand what it is like. This community is here for you! Living with ulcerative colitis is something that people who don't live with just can't fully understand, not only the physical aspects, but the mental health ones as well. I hope the people here can help you feel supported and understood. Sending you gentle hugs. -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

    1. Hi . First, let me echo . Second, I don't know if your doctor mentioned that chronic proctitis with IBD is, unfortunately, quite common. Also, you mentioned the ongoing diarrhea problems. Mind if I ask if there is any blood in the diarrhea? I ask because bloody diarrhea can be a side effect of Pentasa. Of course, only a doctor can do the proper diagnostics to determine what may be at cause. Has your doctor had any further thoughts on treatment? Wishing you the best. Richard (Team Member)
