Newbie left sides UC

Hello, I had a history of unusual symptoms from 16-20’s dx as lactose intolerance, ibs, gastroparesis and then in my 50’s UC. I was blindsided with UC no history in family other than a niece with proctitis. Mine began after the tragic loss of my brother. With the deep grief, I wept so much so deep I felt I was bleeding tears. 2 days later, I ate mexican food.I am mexican, but this time, I had severe bloating with urgent bms and then to my horror blood! I thought it was a hemmoroid so i would practically stand to not bleed when having bms. Then on its own it stopped. 6 months later it returned with a vengence clots and all until mesalmine oral and suppositories then a year a half remission. After some current marital stress and verbal abuse, my flares returned. Here I am now back to that dreaded space of trying to cure a bleeding flare sooo bummed.

  1. Hi . You have dealt with a lot and there is little doubt that stress can impact IBD. Stephanie wrote about it here: https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/stress-ibd. The good news is that you effectively got yourself to remission before, so you know you can do it. Christal wrote here about her flare action plan: https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/flare-action-plan. Have you had a chance to speak to your doctor about steps to get your symptoms under control? Concerning marital stress, I know others in the community have written about it like Krystal writing here about how counseling helped her in general, but also her relationship: https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/ask-for-help. Hoping you can get some relief soon. Best, Richard (Team Member)
