  1. Hi . We were already trading messages, but this is the first I'm seeing this post about back pain. Unfortunately, this is not uncommon with IBD. Our patient leader Marisa wrote about her experience with intense back pain here and what was done about it: https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/back-pain and Julie Marie wrote about hers here: https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/flare-back-pain. I don't know if you have spoken to a doctor about it yet, but hope these might help with any discussions. Best, Richard (Team Member)

    1. Sorry you are having bad lower back pain. I used to deal with lower back pain as well. The heating pad helped me a lot, along with warm baths.

Has your doctor prescribed medication for you to help with your symptoms?

Here is an article you might find interesting, it goes over medication options for IBD: https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/treatment/medications

      1. just 30mg codeine but ended up with compact constipation 🙁

    2. I get lower back pain, for the last few years and my doctor put me on medication that didn't make me tired during the day but got rid of the pain. But he said the government said it's now only prescribed to people with cancer.
Now I have bruises and joint pain all over. Heat packs and cold packs don't work anymore.
I'm getting more exercise, so I'm hoping it helps more.

      1. Hi . Pain management has become a big problem for many people with chronic conditions like IBD. While the regulations are strict, a lot of doctors are simply choosing not to deal with it and no longer prescribing the medications. This page from our editorial team details a survey done on pain management treatment and care: https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/infographic/pain-management. Has any one discussed with you potentially seeing a pain management specialist? I know many people with chronic autoimmune related pain get the treatment they need and have success with these specialists. If your doctor won't prescribe pain meds don't hesitate to advocate for yourself and say you want to see a pain management specialist. Wishing you the best. Richard (Team Member)

    3. I cant deal with this anymore genuinely cant do nothing

Sending thoughts your way. Warmly, Erin (team member)
