Pain due to small intestine inflammation

I have been suffering from last year November 2024. It started with I eating a large quantity of finger millet pancake after which I felt like a know in my left side of abdomen . It was uncomfortable but there was no pain at all. 4 weeks after that I was at a party and I had 4-5 glasses of beer . The glasses were of average size or rather medium size . The next day I had severe , unbearable pain on my left side of stomach and I had to rush to the emergency hospital . They did the CT scan and relevant blood tests but the reports came out normal. But I still had the pain . Then I did an upper endoscopy and a colonoscopy with biopsy . Reports were all normal . Then as the pain didn’t settle down , I also did MRI scan and stool tests. It showed mild inflammation of the small intestine and the stool tests also came out to be the same . It was mild inflammation. But the pain is still there !!

What kind of disease is this . I am meeting gastro specialist again to do some blood tests

I have no fever or diarrhoea but I have constipation at times .

  1. Hello , and welcome to the community. I can hear what a challenging time it has been for you recently with the pain you've been experiencing and wondering what is causing the inflammation. While we are not medical doctors and cannot give medical advice (for your safety) I certainly can share some information on inflammatory bowel disease with you.

First, I want to say it is great that you will be visiting a specialist to gather more information. The GI specialist should be able to give you more specific information on what your previous tests indicated, as well as what he/she might be testing for with the lab work. I'm sharing a link to an article with some information on how an inflammatory bowel disease gets diagnosed, https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/diagnosis. As well as this article about preparing for a doctor appointment (that you might find helpful), https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/preparing-for-appointments Also, I want to point out that, while diarrhea is more common, some people with an inflammatory bowel disease do experience constipation, https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/symptoms/constipation-and-incomplete-bowel-emptying. That, of course, does not necessarily mean your constipation is due to an inflammatory bowel disease. (Only your doctor can make this determination).

I wish I could be more specific for you, but hopefully some of the information here is helpful. When is your appointment with the GI specialist? Please, if you're comfortable, keep us posted with how you're doing and how the appointment goes. Sending you gentle hugs. -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)
