People wonder why I am in the bathroom so much

Family and those around don't understand how severe this is and wonder why I use a 12 pack of toilet paper in a matter of days. It seems I live in the bathroom , on the toilet. Some days are not as bad as others but it is constant, I tend to stay home alot as I am worried and straying too far from my bathroom

  1. I completely feel your pain, ! Do you keep an "emergency bag" with you for when you leave the house should you have an accident? I always like to plot out where bathrooms are on the route to my destination just in case. Sometimes, the anxiety over whether you will need to use the bathroom is enough to cause urgency.
Thank you for being here, I hope you have a better day tomorrow!

    1. Tcruz,

We have all been there..your situation can be treated.

First I suggest seeing a local gastro doctor, they will be able to treat the problem.

Second, to fix the problem you need to address what is bothering you. There is something in your subconscious mind that is triggering this. What I started to do was write down EVERYTHING that was bothering me (and then ask "why" to each one). You will be able to get the root of what is bothering you. It is VERY cathartic when you address your concerns on paper/digital.

Third, I strongly suggest creating a daily affirmation that you can listen to. Create your OWN in your own voice. This is a way to reprogram your subconscious mind. Put it on your ipod so you can hear yourself and reprogram your "monkey brain" every day.

Hang in there..it WILL get better.

      1. Thanks dancing Crohn’s even and all who responded to your April thoughts on family involvement (or not!) in our conditions.
My immediate family is tops, always in touch and on the same page as me, in care and research for Crohn’s Disease aspects. Lucky me.
However, my first family (Mum and Bro) are emotionally vulnerable souls themselves and have very little capacity to check in with me re my condition.
So, the nurturing role reverts back to me.. Shawn Bethsea - you are so right in your comments about trying to put self first!
So, on we trudge, taking the good with the impossible.
Wishing you all the very best supports.

        1. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. It's obvious many of those living with Crohn's or IBD have similar experiences. I hope it gets better for you, keep us updated on how you are feeling. Kindly, Amani (Inflammatoryboweldisease.net Team Member)
