Steroids

Hi all can anyone help me regarding steroids I'm on week 4 out of 8week course and I'm starting to feel they are not working as they were I'm having great difficulty in contacting my IBD team as it's always a voice mail (no direct contact) I'm worried that steroids will end and I'm just left to deal with on my own again I know there are people far worse than what I'm going through but I am at the end of my tether I just want to get back to normalty sorry for moaning but got no one else to turn too .

  1. Hi . Your anxiety at not being able to contact your doctor and fearing the steroid treatment is failing is understandable. Even if others may be worse, you never have to feel like your symptoms are not serious - you deserve to be heard and to get the care you need. Are you on any treatment besides the steroids? Steroids generally are not considered to be a long-term solution. I want to share with you this article on treatments (https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/treatment) and this one on medications (https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/treatment). If you cannot get your doctor to have a real conversation about a treatment plan, don't hesitate to seek another opinion - again, you deserve to be heard. Hope you can get some relief soon. Please know that this community is here for you. Best, Richard (Team Member)
