Swollen durning flareup?
Newly diagnosed with colitis. I’m in a flare up now and feel very swollen, my whole body. Has this happen to anyone else? I tried researching it and can’t find anything. I wake up in the morning to my face and arms being abnormal puffy and it doesn’t go away. Thanks
Hi, sorry you are going through this. I know from other UC patients that the puffiness is a symptom of UC. It's not that common but it is a symptom. You might want to talk with your doctor to see if there is anything that can help.
Are you on any medications? Some meds can cause the swelling. Drinking plenty of fluids also helps.
But for sure talk with your doctor, they may be able to figure out exactly what is going on.
Vern - IBD Team MemberHi, sorry to hear you're going through this 🙁 I had a similar issue soon after my diagnosis, a couple of weeks after I started with UC enemas. I stopped taking them, changed to suppositories and it stopped. My gastro specialist said he'd never heard of it & didn't think it was from the enemas but as soon as I stopped them it went away.
