Does being very stressed out and overwhelmed really cause Crohn's to get worse?

  1. Hi ,
Although many people have different triggers, stress can certainly be one. Here is an article that you may be able to relate to; https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/living/the-stress-mess/. We are so sorry that this is happening!

    1. I think so. I have also talked to others who suggest it might. I don't think that's the only factor. I think there are many other elements that contribute to issues. You can be calm as a lake and still have issues. But, all other things being equal, stress can exacerbate what is already going on.

      1. Stress is my Number One trigger for a Crohn's flare-up, followed closely by large portions, simple carbs, and whipping cream. We all have unique experiences, but I have found that surrounding myself with gardening, singing, reading, and good friends goes a long way toward preventing flares.

        1. It's so important to prioritize self-care and surround ourselves with good/supportive friends... it really can make all the difference!! Thanks so much for sharing. - Pam (team member)
