Maybe colitis maybe something else

I need some help as I feel like I'm dying every month I have a flare and end up hospitalised. I've not been diagnosed with colitis yet but keep being told by my doctors it sounds like colitis.
Every couple of weeks or so I have a flare up as my doctor calls it, I have the sudden urge to go toilet, severe stomach pain, bloody diarrhea, vomiting, rapid heart beat, cold sweats and then I pass out. Its been happening for 6 months now and I've had a sigmoidscopy but it came back clear but everytime I end up in hospital they keep asking me if its ulcerative colitis, can anybody help shed some light on my situation, I've been gluten free for 5 months but it hasn't helped my symptoms like the hospital said it would. Could it be something else? Thanks in advance

  1. Thank you for sharing @amyturtle94. I am so sorry to hear of your monthly flares, and would suggest getting a second opinion from another GI. Have you ever had a colonoscopy or endoscopy? You deserve answers and I would pursue getting tests done until a definitive answer is reached. You don't deserve to suffer like this. Please keep us updated!

    1. Thank you for your reply, my doctor is absolutely amazing and put me through for a sigmoidscopy straight away but that only looks at part of the bowel, I'm waiting on biopsies to come back and then I have another appointment with the doctor and maybe get a step closer to a diagnosis. It's just really frustrating and constantly on my mind and I think I will feel better when I get answers

  2. you definitely need more tests! You can't live like that! Here's some info on the diagnostics that should help you get answers: https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/diagnostic-tests-and-procedures

I was personally diagnosed via colonoscopy.

    1. Thank you we've kind of hit a brick wall, my blood keeps showing inflammation everytime I'm admitted but they are not sure why, I've had a ct scan to check for crohns but came back clear and because I had a sigmoidoscopy the doctors have said they're stumped

      1. so they still haven't done a colonoscopy?
