  1. How do you know if something you ate today triggered your symptoms or was it something you ate yesterday? Does your food move through you that fast or is it slower? Why does something bother you today that did not bother you last week?

    1. Excellent questions! Thank you for taking the time to share. I hope you are feeling okay today and having minimal symptoms. Best, Elizabeth (team member)

  2. When I want to know when something goes through I eat a little corn. When it comes through you know. So when eating something questionable add a little corn to it and it may help.

    1. , great tip (assuming the person tolerates corn okay). Figuring out food triggers and related symptoms can really be tricky, I'm glad you've found a way to help yourself track whether a food is bothering you or not. Thanks for sharing with the rest of the community here! -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

  3. I only eat corn when I want to track something. It does not take much.

  4. 77yo female. Diagnosed with colitis 4 years ago. Beginning, after a bout of constipation, December first I had worst flare up ever. Continues today. Nothing seems to matter. Traveled over the Christmas holidays. Miserable lbiditing daughter and grandchildren. Returned home and went to ER on December 31. They gave me antibiotics and sent me home. Back to ER on Jan 6 where for 6 days I stayed in hospital on liquid diet but did not improve situation. Had colonoscopy and endoscopy. Now diagnosed with gastritis and colitis. Decided to see a different GI doctor who Prescribed steroids. Today after 2 weeks on steroids, I still have Very soft stool, which is uncontrollable most of time. Sometimes I know I eat too much food. Beginning tomorrow I think I will try mostly liquid diet for a few days. This will be difficult as I am a compulsive overeater!
Thank you all for sharing and allowing me to share.

    1. Hi . Your frustration with everything you have been going through and lack of answers is understandable. Mind if I ask if you were diagnosed with ulcerative colitis or acute colitis? I ask because you mentioned you were diagnosed four years ago and then again in January. Ulcerative Colitis is a chronic autoimmune disease. While acute colitis may be treated with antibiotics, ulcerative colitis has other treatments, as you can see here: https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/treatment. Ulcerative colitis can be difficult to diagnose and this article gives an overview: https://inflammatoryboweldisease.net/diagnosis. You will see part of the process can be a biopsy done from a colonoscopy. do you know if one was done? It is important to ask your doctor questions about what they tested for to make sure you have the proper diagnosis and are receiving the correct treatment. Wishing you the best and please feel free to keep us posted and ask additional questions. Richard (Team Member)
